Campus Administrative Policies

Cal Poly is undertaking a comprehensive review of its administrative policies. The result of this effort will be a new collection of "Campus Administrative Policies" (CAP), published on the Web and in hard copy format. CAP will take the place of the pre-existing Campus Administrative Manual (CAM).

CAP is to be published as follows:

  1. Once policies have been reviewed by the CAP Ad Hoc Editorial Coordination and Review Committee (or "CAP Committee"), they will be posted in Draft form on the "Draft CAP Policies" Web page. While in draft form the policies will be made available for general university review and comment. They will not have official status as university policies.
  2. Once policies have been through legal and administrative review, and received interim presidential approval, they will assume interim status and will be posted on the "Interim/Final CAP Policies Web Page." This "interim" status will last for one month, during which time the campus community will have a final opportunity to offer comments or suggestions. Interim policies will be designated "interim," but will have official status as university policies.
  3. Interim policies will become "final" policies of the University after one month if no comments have been received by the CAP Committee Chair. If comments are submitted to the CAP Committee Chair, they will be considered by the CAP Committee prior to finalization of the policy in question. (Any proposed changes at this stage will require further legal and administrative review and presidential approval.)
  4. As CAM policies are superseded by new Interim/Final CAP policies they will be retired. Until retired, all CAM policies and Administrative Bulletins will remain in effect as official policies of the University.
  5. A hard copy version of all Interim/Final CAP policies may be viewed in the Special Collections/Archives Section of the Robert E. Kennedy Library.
This Website will feature general information and periodic updates about the CAP development and publication process. Questions about CAP may be directed to:
